Belarusian ministers highlight importance of first aid campaign for youngsters

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) - Restart a Heart is a comprehensive project, Belarusian Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhayev told the media as he visited during a visit to the National Clinical Medical Center of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate  that hosted the 2026 project launch, BelTA has learned.

“The main thing is to do no harm. You and I understand perfectly well that there are empathetic people, deeply concerned and ready to rush to save a person, even without having any skills. This kind deed helps save a person,” said Aleksandr Khodzhayev.
According to him, help may be needed in various situations: people not only faint but may also find themselves in danger after an accident. “Someone may see someone bleeding out. Drawing on experience, remembering their school skills, they can provide assistance. Perhaps schoolchildren in some crisis situation will be able to help adults if they feel more composed and know what to do,” the minister said.

The competencies that schoolchildren will acquire during this year's campaign have been expanded. “Schoolchildren are interested. We talked with them and understand that currently the interest is not only in the skills taught last time, but there is also a demand for broader functionality,” he said.

The Restart a Heart project, according to Aleksandr Khodzhayev, is a kind of cornerstone in understanding how important it is to remain human, not to pass a person in need in a difficult situation.
The project is comprehensive in nature, addressing not only the issue of career guidance for schoolchildren but also pursuing a unifying goal, the minister noted. It brings together members of society living in one country with a good purpose - to learn to fight for everyone’s life, to sympathize and empathize.

Continuing on the topic of career guidance, Aleksandr Khodzhayev noted that young people who develop an interest and a need to hone their skills will be kept in sight. The project is also interesting for the children themselves from a career guidance perspective: during interactions at such events, they can assess their own professional aptitude.
Overall, according to him, the project requires very careful and high-quality execution.
Education Minister Andrei Ivanets recalled that this is the second installation of the Restart a Heart campaign involving all tenth-graders in the country. It is planned that within the framework of the sixth school day, more than 20,000 schoolchildren will participate in the project by May.

“Today, schools offer relevant academic curriculum. This includes basic medical training and pre-conscription training. I am confident that the girls who complete the relevant training course today will do excellently in this academic subject. Our boys, starting this academic year, tenth-graders will have two-week training field camps. Every young man will have a chance to experience what it means to fulfill his duty to his homeland,” the minister said. Photos by Ramil Nasibulin/BelTA
