Belarusian military personnel join snowfall cleanup efforts

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) - The Armed Forces have joined the efforts to clear snow after the heavy snowfall, BelTA learned from the press service of the Defense Ministry.

“In this bad weather, this snowfall, the Armed Forces will not stand on the sidelines. On the instructions of the defense minister we are coordinating with all regional centers, the city of Minsk, and the Emergencies Ministry to provide assistance to the population,” said First Deputy Chief of Support Services of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus - Chief of Support Aleksandr Mosolov. 

He noted that the Armed Forces have been helping to deal with the aftermath of the bad weather since yesterday. “We have allocated personnel to clear snow from the grounds of kindergartens, schools, clinics, hospitals, and other important social facilities. Equipment has also been deployed to tow vehicles and clear roads. A situational headquarters and an operational group have been established to coordinate assistance efforts for people. As long as this bad weather continues, we are ready to provide assistance around the clock,” Aleksandr Mosolov emphasized.
