MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) – Deputy Director of the Belarusian national center of health resort treatment and recuperation Aleksandr Tsai spoke about the new programs available at Belarusian health resorts in a recent episode of BelTA’s project The Nation Speaks.
The hallmark of Belarusian health resorts is their medical component. “We have highly professional doctors and nursing staff who are dedicated to their work, continuously developing and improving medical and wellness programs based on natural healing factors. On average, each health resort offers about seven to ten medical and wellness programs tailored to various demographics and lengths of stay, which boosts demand for our services,” Aleksandr Tsai said.
In 2025, the country’s health resorts developed 85 new medical and wellness programs. This reflects a steady upward trend, following the 59 programs introduced in 2024, as these resorts continuously refine their existing services and roll out new types of treatments.
Speleotherapy is no longer a novelty, but it continues to develop actively. “Carboxytherapy, oxygen therapy, hypoxic therapy, and mineral therapy are also evolving. We see the emergence of halotherapy rooms and amber healing rooms – fields that have proven highly effective, including in post-COVID rehabilitation for boosting immunity and improving overall health. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is also expanding – these are full-fledged departments that enhance well-being, oxygenate the body, and increase immunity. The technologies vary, utilizing different approaches,” the deputy director of the national center of health resort treatment and recuperation noted.
Cosmetology is now thriving at health resorts. “Five years ago, this was unheard of, but today we see full-scale medical spa clinics with professional cosmetologists. These are rare, highly specialized experts who undergo years of training. They offer the exact same treatments you would find in the city, such as facelifts and many others. During their stay, guests can combine medical rehabilitation with rejuvenation and beauty treatments,” he noted.
Each health resort develops its medical facilities based on natural healing factors. “There are more than 80 wells with their own mineral water on the grounds of our resorts, and imported mineral water is also used. A resort’s medical specialization is tailored to the water’s mineralization. These high-quality yet affordable treatments rely entirely on local natural resources. Furthermore, Belarus boasts five sapropel mud deposits. This organic mud is highly effective for medical rehabilitation, especially in treating musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders, as well as other conditions,” Aleksandr Tsai pointed out.
He noted that even in peak summer, if you miss out on booking a premium resort, opting for a first-category resort will still guarantee the same level of full-scale medical treatment. The medical infrastructure is roughly identical everywhere. These wellness resorts are predominantly multi-profile – only a handful focus on a single specialization, with most covering three or four different areas of treatment.
According to him, the most prevalent medical specializations for adults involve musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders, alongside circulatory system diseases. For pediatric patients, the main focus is on respiratory illnesses.
“Belarus is arguably the only country globally that has standardized the medical services included in a wellness resort stay. If indicated, a standard voucher automatically covers around 8 to 10 treatments focused on the patient’s main condition, alongside extra treatments for co-existing illnesses. This robust medical infrastructure features advanced diagnostics, including on-site lab work and functional screenings. Beyond primary therapy, guests can get a full check-up to uncover hidden disorders and health risks. Dental services are also thriving here, offering much better value for money than abroad. It is this high standard of care, available regardless of the resort’s category, that draws the public. Our medical professionals are constantly upgrading their skills and launching fresh procedures to satisfy every demand,” Aleksandr Tsai said.
