Belarusian Ambassador visits Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Russia’s Dubna 

MOSCOW, 17 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna near Moscow, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.

"Belarus is a JINR member state, its representatives are members of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of the Governments of the JINR Member States, which is the supreme governing body, and the Scientific Council, which determines the scientific policy of the Institute. The main areas of theoretical and experimental research at JINR are nuclear physics and elementary particle physics. It uses Belarusian equipment and employs Belarusian scientists and engineers. Currently, 17 Belarusian scientific centers and universities cooperate with JINR," the press service recalled. 

The Ambassador looked around the JINR large scientific infrastructure facilities, in the development of which Belarusian specialists took part. When touring the Laboratory of High Energy Physics the diplomat was presented a factory for the production of superconducting magnets, a hall of synchrophasotron and the NICA accelerator complex. Prospects for strengthening cooperation between Belarus and JINR were considered.  

"Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik and JINR Director, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Grigory Trubnikov discussed the interaction between Belarusian scientific and educational centers and JINR, ways to expand cultural and educational ties, the status of the contracts and agreements on cooperation in science and technology and the development of new ones," the embassy added.
