Belarus United forum seen as forge of country’s future image

MOGILEV, 8 September (BelTA) – The Belarus United forum allows formulating the image of the country’s future. Vadim Gigin, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Chairman of the Board of the republican state public association Belarusian Society Znanie, made the statement during the nationwide awareness-raising campaign Belarus United, which took place in Mogilev State A.Kuleshov University on 8 September, BelTA has learned.

Vadim Gigin said: “The key idea that unites us is the image of Belarus’ future. And we already see that Belarus United events, which have already been held, allow formulating this image of the future. And we’ve selected speakers in a manner as to represent various spheres.”
During the dialogue participants of the meeting are expected to send questions to the speakers via a special chat bot. Every message gets a lot of attention. “This is an innovative way to organize the discussion but it is in demand with the audience because it allows putting the audience at ease and building a more open dialogue,” the director of the National Library underlined.
According to Vadim Gigin, the fact that the meeting was taking place in a university was a major factor. It is there that active and progressive young people gather up and it is there that the personnel, who will not only teach a new generation but also will take care of its development and upbringing, are trained. From city to city the content of the event changes slightly. Innovations in school education were discussed as well as the economic component and prospects of Belarus’ economy, information security. A lot depended on the speaker. “We try to select those, who will shine not only thanks to the words they utter, which is also very important, but thanks to their accomplishments, their personality,” he shared.

The search for new forms of interaction with the audience should not stop, Vadim Gigin said. “If we see that some form stops giving 100% effect, then this form should be abandoned. Then it is necessary to make changes,” he remarked. “This model [of communication] that we’ve suggested during our event takes into account the experience of the Marathon of Unity. Look at the level we’ve elevated this work to. It has given us a lot of forms of interaction with the people. And we shouldn’t lose it. We have to scale it up, promote, and enrich it with some new features.”

There is no doubt that the form of communication with people is important. But the content of such meetings and the personality of the speaker are the most important things.

The forum gathered about 600 people at the Mogilev-based university today. Those were students of higher education institutions and students of colleges, teachers and professors, representatives of public associations and organizations of the city.

The nationwide awareness-raising campaign Belarus United has been traditionally taking place all over the country since 2021 ahead of 17 September – People’s Unity Day. The campaign is aimed at discussing future guidelines.
