Kochanova meets MPs from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) - Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova held a series of bilateral meetings with parliamentary colleagues from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia during the spring session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, BelTA has learned.

The meetings emphasized that Belarus establishes good, friendly and brotherly relations with each of the countries represented. The participants noted that the heads of state had set a high standard for productive cooperation. Parliamentarians are committed to constructive interaction across all areas, and it is important to ensure that all reached agreements are fully implemented.

During the meeting with Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva the parties discussed trade and economic cooperation. Natalya Kochanova noted that a meeting of the Belarus-Uzbekistan joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation had recently taken place in Tashkent. She highlighted the agreements reached and stressed the need to continue productive cooperation.

Natalya Kochanova also noted that the 2025 international industrial expo INNOPROM attracted representatives from many countries. She invited Uzbek colleagues to Belarus to take part in the next exhibition scheduled for autumn 2026 in order to see Belarusian-made goods, products and machinery.

“I am sincerely pleased with the way our interparliamentary relations are developing and how the friendship group is working,” Natalya Kochanova said. “We have established a high-level interparliamentary commission. In 2025, its meeting was held online, and our colleagues discussed the agreements we had reached.”

Trade and economic cooperation was also discussed with Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council) of Kyrgyzstan Marlen Mamataliev. Natalya Kochanova noted that Belarus has an export-oriented economy. According to her, Belarusian enterprises operate successfully and manufacture high-quality municipal and agricultural machinery known far beyond the country’s borders. Belarusian food products are exported to 160 countries worldwide. Natalya Kochanova stressed that parliamentarians are also involved in promoting trade and economic cooperation, including the creation of joint ventures, production facilities and technological development.

Speaking about interparliamentary relations she expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for its support at international platforms. “In today’s unstable world, we must support one another and meet the goals set by our heads of state,” Natalya Kochanova said. “Our domestic policy is aimed at the well-being of our people. Our foreign policy is peace and harmony, and we share the same approaches in these matters.”

During a meeting with Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko the parties discussed current issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation, including preparations for the 13th forum of regions of Belarus and Russia, which is scheduled for 25-26 June in Minsk and Minsk Oblast, and the implementation of joint interparliamentary projects.
