Belarus seeks closer cooperation with Russia in space station development

MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – Belarusian scientists are aiming to play a more active role in the development of the Russian orbital service station, Piotr Vityaz, Head of the Aerospace Activities Department of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) said at a press conference, BelTA has learned.

“A new Russian orbital service station is currently being prepared for launch. We are eager to participate more actively in this process, as well as in the lunar program, both with Russian and Chinese partners. We see future prospects not only in remote sensing of the Earth, but also in near and deep space exploration. In addition, we are currently implementing the Union State [of Belarus and Russia] program Complex SG, which involves the development of three satellites. The satellite constellation is scheduled for launch in 2027,” Piotr Vityaz street.

Construction of the Russian orbital service station is expected to begin in 2027.

Regarding the experiments conducted by Belarusian cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya aboard the ISS, Piotr Vityaz emphasized that the work is ongoing. “We are actively working with Roscosmos and will discuss new areas in which we would like to participate,” he noted.
