MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Karelia have explored the possibility of organizing familiarization tours to present their regions’ tourism potential, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Sport and Tourism told BelTA following a meeting with representatives of the tourism sector of the Republic of Karelia.

The parties exchanged information on cooperation opportunities, new elements of tourism infrastructure, and tourism products.

The prospects for Karelia’s participation in the Leisure 2026 exhibition in Minsk, the exchange of familiarization tours, and the organization of events promoting the gastronomic tourism of Karelia and Belarus in Petrozavodsk and Minsk were discussed.

“The residents of Karelia love visiting Belarus, especially for spa treatment,” Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia Oleg Yermolayev emphasized. “We look forward to welcoming Belarusian guests and invite them to discover Karelia.”

As reported, direct flights between Minsk and Petrozavodsk are expected to be launched in May 2026, which will facilitate both business contacts and growth in tourist traffic. The flights will be operated by Severstal airline once a week until September.
