MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are planning a new program of joint activities within the Union State to overcome the impact of the Chernobyl NPP accident, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) told BelTA.
Since 1998, Belarus and Russia have implemented five programs of joint activities to overcome the impact of the Chernobyl NPP disaster, each program was designed for four years.
The sixth program of joint activities will accumulate the knowledge, scientific research, technologies and approaches to ensure radiation safety at all stages of overcoming the Chernobyl disaster - from emergency response, clean-up efforts to rehabilitation, revival and transition to sustainable development of the affected regions.
