MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – Belarus has put forward the strategic initiative “CIS – Common Space for Health and Sustainable Development” for 2026-2035 as Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin addressed a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Minsk on 29 September, BelTA has learned.
“Guided by the CIS long-term priorities, the upcoming CIS Year of Health, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Belarus proposes that the CIS countries adopt the strategic initiative ‘CIS – Common Space for Health and Sustainable Development’ for 2026-2035. This initiative aims to strengthen health, social stability, and environmental sustainability in the region. Its goal is to create a unified space for improving the quality of life of our citizens through accessible healthcare, environmental projects, social support, and the digitalization of key areas of human activity,” Aleksandr Turchin said.

He also proposed several key focus areas for the initiative. These include healthcare (developing a digital telemedicine platform and rehabilitation centers to reduce mortality from non-communicable diseases), ecology (monitoring and cleaning transboundary water bodies, creating green health zones and ecological trails for tourism development), as well as social protection (mobile clinics and volunteer programs to ensure 95% coverage of basic medical services) and innovation (implementing artificial intelligence for disease diagnosis and treatment).

“I am confident that this initiative will strengthen humanitarian cooperation, enhance trust among CIS countries, and bolster the region’s position in the global sustainable development agenda,” the prime minister emphasized.
