MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) - The first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony for the stamp to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding artist, stage designer and teacher Ferdinand Rushchits was held in the Belpochta. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the National Commission for UNESCO Vladimir Makei, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2020 has been officially declared by UNESCO the year of the artist. The anniversary of the birth of Ferdinand Rushchits has been included in the UNESCO Calendar of Commemorative Dates for this year. Vladimir Makei noted that this is a convincing testament to the worldwide recognition of the artist's work.
According to the minister, it is very important for Belarus that in its history shared with other countries there are such outstanding personalities, whose cultural heritage acts as a language of inter-ethnic communication, contributes towards strengthening and development of friendly relations.
The ceremony was also attended by senior officials of the Communications and Informatization Ministry, the Culture Ministry and the National Art Museum.
