Belarus, Kazakhstan intend to boost cooperation in politics, culture

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Kazakhstan plan to expand political and cultural interaction, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Timur Zhaksylykov told the media following a meeting with Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev, BelTA has learned.

The ambassador highlighted multilateral cooperation between the countries. "Minsk is a very powerful industrial, scientific, technological, educational and cultural center of Belarus. At the moment we are running 11 landmark industrial projects worth $200 million. All of them are being implemented in Kazakhstan with the active participation of such Belarusian enterprises as Minsk Tractor Works, MAZ, Amkodor, manufactures of elevators and special equipment. Our cooperation is not limited to this. Our trade is also very vibrant. Currently, Kazakhstan is Belarus' third most important trading partner after Russia and China, that are much larger countries and markets. We actively interact with Belarus in culture and politics. We plan to expand and deepen this interaction. Today we are talking about the prospects for this," the ambassador said.

During the meeting, Vladimir Kukharev expressed his gratitude to the guests for the attention paid to cooperation with Minsk. "We are committed to boosting cooperation in all areas. We understand that success comes only when the interests of our partners are taken into account," the chairman said.

The parties also discussed the project to build Kazakhstan quarter in Minsk, which will take place on Zheleznodorozhnaya, Dubravinskaya, Grushevskaya and Pryamaya streets. Minsk' Committee of Architecture and Urban Planning has approved the architectural and planning concept of the project, which provides over 39,200 square meters of apartment housing with an outdoor parking lot for 300 cars. "Kazakhstan has already approved the conceptual design and plans to complete the design in November," the ambassador added.
