Belarus, Iran sign package of documents on advancing cooperation

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – As a result of narrow-format and broad-format negotiations in the Palace of Independence Belarus and Iran have signed a package of documents on various avenues of cooperation, BelTA has learned.

A joint statement of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian on more profound advancement of relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been signed.

The other documents that have been signed include an agreement on flight worthiness between the National Aviation Administration of the Republic of Belarus and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Apart from that, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation on environmental protection between the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Department of Environment of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a memorandum of understanding between the Healthcare Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Health and Medical Education Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran on cooperation in healthcare, the turnover of medications and medical equipment, medical education, and science.
The parties also signed a memorandum of understanding between the Forestry Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of the Islamic Republic of Iran on cooperation in forestry, a memorandum of understanding between the Agriculture and Food Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of the Islamic Republic of Iran on cooperation in animal health and veterinary medicine.
The State Standardization Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the National Standards Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran have also signed a memorandum of understanding on standardization, metrology, conformity assessment, and accreditation.

The documents that have been signed include a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in mass media between the Information Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a memorandum of understanding between the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting organization.
A memorandum of understanding and cooperation was signed between the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA) and Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency.
The Belarusian Culture Ministry and the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance agreed to exchange cinematographic works and cooperate with each other.
In addition, memorandums were signed on cooperation in tourism and the promotion of investment in free zones.

The Belarusian leader pointed out that negotiations between industry-specific delegations of Belarus and Iran had demonstrated mutual interest of the parties in continuing the implementation of sketched-out joint projects. “Belarus-Iran cooperation in humanitarian affairs has a significant potential for developing cultural ties, for sharing knowledge and experience, which contributes to deeper mutual understanding and friendship between our nations,” the head of state is confident.

The Belarus president stated that it had been decided to step up interaction in science and technology and hold the eighth session of the Belarusian-Iranian joint commission on cooperation in higher education, science, and technology in Minsk this year.

Aleksandr Lukashenko assured Masoud Pezeshkian that the Belarusian side will do all it can for the sake of implementing the agreements that have been reached at all levels and in all fields as soon as possible. “I am convinced that the documents that have been signed today would contribute to a significant expansion of partnership between our friendly countries,” the head of state added.
