Belarus, China to develop railway logistics

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) - Belarus and China plan to develop railway logistics, the press center of the Belarusian Railways told BelTA following negotiations between the heads of the railway companies of both countries held in Beijing, China.

Director of the Belarusian Railways Valery Verenich and  Chairman of China State Railway Group Guo Zhuxue discussed current issues in bilateral relations and cooperation within international organizations. The parties agreed to implement joint projects and highlighted the high level of mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at increasing container traffic on the China–Europe–China route and import-export transport on the China–Belarus–China corridor.

Valery Verenich emphasized that Belarus is not only a transit link, but also an important trading and logistics partner of China. "The friendly relations between the leaders of our countries give additional impetus to the development of China–Belarus–China freight traffic," he stated. Valery Verenich also thanked Guo Zhuxue for strengthening cooperation and expressed confidence in the successful realization of the planned partnership projects.

Following the negotiations, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding. The document reflects the parties’ intention to reach a new level of partnership, jointly develop railway logistics along international transport corridors, deepen practical cooperation, and contribute to the dynamic growth of container train services.
