
MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - Since September 2021 barbed wire on the border with the EU has caused the death of 53 animals, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.
On 26 May, border guards found a carcass of a moose on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border in Ostrovets District. The animal was trying to overcome the barbed fence installed on the Lithuanian side, but received deep cut wounds and died of blood loss.
All in all, since September 2021 Belarusian border guards have registered 53 deaths of animals that fell victim to EU border fences.
