MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) - The situation on Belarus’ borders remains characteristically tense, Chairman of the Belarusian State Border Committee Konstantin Molostov told journalists following the approval by the head of state of the decisions on border security in 2026, BelTA has learned.
“The president has also given specific instructions and clarified certain aspects of our operational and service activities, including the protection of the state border in airspace,” he added. “Decisions and measures have been adopted to further enhance the operations of the border service agencies.”
Konstantin Molostov noted that the border service agencies carry out their tasks in cooperation with the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “We also receive significant assistance from local authorities. The border service agencies (this was also mentioned in the report to the head of state) are prepared to fulfill their tasks in the upcoming period, in 2026,” Konstantin Molostov said.
“To this day, the situation on our borders remains characteristically tense. This pertains to our northern and western borders, where neighboring states are continuously building up their military potential and for obvious reasons, our southern border where hostilities are ongoing on the territory of Ukraine,” Konstantin Molostov said.
He noted that the head of state was reported on the situation in the border area. Furthermore, certain proposals and their justifications were presented. “The Belarusian president has approved the plans for the protection of the state border in 2026,” Konstantin Molostov emphasized.
