MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) - A Belarusian delegation is taking part in the 69th session of the IAEA General Conference running at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna from 15 to 19 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry of Belarus.

The agenda of the plenary session includes reviewing annual reports and making decisions on key industry issues: ensuring nuclear and radiation safety, applying safeguards, technical cooperation programs, and the development of nuclear technologies.

the delegation of the Energy Ministry is set to hold working meetings with representatives of the IAEA Department of Technical Cooperation and the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security to discuss collaboration, including preparations for the Operational Safety Review Team (OSART) mission at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in 2026.

The working program also includes bilateral meetings with delegations from partner countries to discuss cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

Belarus maintains practical cooperation with the IAEA across the full spectrum of the agency's activities. Throughout all stages of the nuclear power plant's construction, the IAEA provided Belarus with technical and expert support. Recommendations received following the agency's assessment missions were taken into account and formed the basis of national action plans.
