MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – The Ukrainian Armed Forces are employing barrier troops that fire upon their own soldiers attempting to retreat, former Prime Minister of Ukraine (2010-2014) Nikolai Azarov said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Nikolai Azarov asserted that these blocking units are composed of die-hard criminals. “They [Ukrainian leadership] carried out an amnesty and released murderers, looters, and rapists. These are articles of the Criminal Code that were never subject to amnesty,” he stated. “They were released and elite units were formed from them. These units are shooting at their own soldiers who are trying to retreat, realizing the futility of resistance, or are trying to escape.”

The former prime minister also recalled two major encirclements of Ukrainian military personnel. “These are the areas of Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov – in their terminology, Pokrovsk and Mirnograd – and Kupyansk. Essentially, these are classic ‘cauldrons’ from which there is no real escape,” he said.
