MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – The momentum in cooperation between Belarus and Iran is very strong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Alireza Sanei said at a solemn event on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution, BelTA has learned.

“The relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Belarus, two friendly and independent countries, based on mutual respect and common interests, and within the framework of the roadmap for comprehensive cooperation for 2023-2026, have in recent years shown a growing trend in all areas. In particular, in politics, economy, manufacturing, science, technology, and culture. Interaction and constructive cooperation between government bodies and business circles of Iran and Belarus have accelerated, and in 2025 the two sides witnessed significant progress,” the diplomat said.
He cited Iranian statistics: “In January-June 2025, trade between the two countries increased by 34.9% year-on-year.”

According to Ambassador Alireza Sanei, new opportunities for the development of relations between the two countries were created by the free trade agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union, in which Belarus is an influential member and Iran is an observer country, as well as by the membership of Iran and Belarus in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Iran’s membership in BRICS, and Belarus joining this group as a partner.

“The visit of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian to Belarus in August 2025 in response to the visit of President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko to Tehran in March 2023, the visit of the Iranian foreign minister to Belarus in December 2025, and the successful holding of the 18th session of the joint economic commission of the two countries in December 2025 in Tehran are among the important events and key milestones in bilateral relations between Iran and Belarus in 2025, which demonstrate the commitment of the leaders and senior officials to develop relations in all areas,” the head of the Iranian diplomatic mission said.

The ambassador emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in international organizations and forums such as the United Nations, as well as the constant mutual support of each other’s positions.
