MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) - President of the Pan-African Parliament Fortune Charumbira congratulated Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on his impressive victory in the presidential election as he met with the Belarusian leader on 28 January, BelTA has learned.
Fortune Charumbira explained that the Pan-African Parliament is a continental body, It represents 55 member states of the African continent, each of which sends only 5 representatives. Therefore, according to him, all the observers who were in Belarus represented the interests and voices of millions of African people.
"We believe that the Belarusian people have expressed their free will by voting for you as president. This is why I would like to congratulate you on this impressive victory. The large number of votes you received shows that people in the Republic of Belarus have confidence and trust in you," Fortune Charumbira said.
He also expressed gratitude to the leadership of both chambers of the Belarusian parliament for inviting the members of the Pan-African Parliament to observe the election.
