MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) - The vital mission to halt regional depopulation and relieve pressure on Minsk and other major cities must be accomplished through radical measures, definitively and without discussion, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his Address to the Belarusian people and Parliament on 18 December, BelTA has learned.
“A cap on the commissioning of new residential space must be established in Minsk, no more than 300,000 square meters per year. Perhaps even less,” said the head of state.

As an alternative, the president pointed to the development of satellite towns. “Create a similarly high-quality, full-fledged urban environment there and in the surrounding areas. Although I see there is a sea of problems here. We will examine this topic comprehensively next year,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
