MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – No one has been thrown out of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko told journalists after casting his ballot in the presidential election, BelTA has learned.
“We have not expelled anyone from the country. Moreover, we have opened the country up. I have said several times that we are not vindictive people. Everyone will be given a chance,” the head of state said.
“Come here and face the music. If you committed a serious crime, you will be taken to jail,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added. He recalled that a special public commission was set up to process applications from people who want to return to Belarus.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that he had already answered a question about Maria Kolesnikova when it had been asked by BBC's Steve Rosenberg some time ago. He did what the journalist asked him about. “You are asking me about Kolesnikova again... If you want to see Kolesnikova, we'll arrange it. Just let us know. We'll think about it. Ask her: 'Maria, why are you here?' And she should answer you. This is not a question for me. In order for this matter to be even considered, a certain procedure should be observed (we copied it from you, democrats): you must write a petition to the person who makes decisions on pardoning. This is envisaged by the law (of your country, America, Brussels, and so on). If you don't file a petition, it means you're doing well there,” the president said.
