Lukashenko wants smooth Belarus-Kazakhstan interaction in aviation

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – The matter of Belarus-Kazakhstan interaction in aviation was mentioned as Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko heard out a report from Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin on 23 September, BelTA has learned.

One of the matters raised by the head of state was how private air carriers from Kazakhstan fly via Belarus.

“Our aircraft do not get maintenance or refueling over there. They refuel and offer maintenance to Russian aircraft, which are absolutely the same. Belarusian aircraft are denied [the service],” the president noted. “It is necessary to remedy the situation. We will closely monitor the issue from now on.”

In the current situation Belarus needs absolutely clear priorities, the head of state is convinced. “We need to take care of our interests,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. “If they coincide with those of other countries, then it is good. If they don’t, then we look for a compromise. In other words, like normal people. Because Kazakhstan is not a foreign country for us. It is another member of the Eurasian Economic Union like we are. We have always enjoyed good relations with Kazakhstan. We shouldn’t damage them. But interests must be observed.”
