MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – The USA could make a good investment in Greenland, but the method of addressing this matter is met with rejection within the USA itself, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during the meeting with State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Sergey Glazyev in Minsk on 16 February, BelTA has learned.

“We understand their concerns regarding Greenland. Especially since they could have made a good investment there. But doing it this way – what did it lead to? Rejection. Even inside the United States of America, the majority of the population says: ‘No, we don’t want this.’ Although, people in the USA are heroic, you know how this nation was formed and so on. It wasn’t ordinary people who came there from Europe. Those were people ready to fight. They said: ‘No, this is not the way to do it’ running up against Europe, let alone Denmark, and so on. I see that Donald has stepped back,” the president said.
As is known, during his second presidential term Donald Trump renewed attempts to acquire Greenland from Denmark, viewing it as a strategic deal and a matter of national security.
