MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) - Ukraine will be very happy if Russia uses tactical nuclear weapons, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with the Rossiya TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Speaking about the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into Kursk oblast of Russia, the head of state said that this will escalate the conflict. "Such escalation on the part of Ukraine is an attempt to push Russia to asymmetric actions. Well, let's say to use nuclear weapons. I know for sure that Ukraine would be very happy if Russia or we used tactical nuclear weapons there. They will applaud it," Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Then, probably, we would hardly have allies left. In general, there would be no even sympathetic countries left."
"These are nuclear weapons. There is a certain fear of them. So that’s why they want to push it," the Belarusian leader added.
