Lukashenko to visit renovated Loshitsa park complex

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Ahead of Minsk City Day, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will review urban development efforts in Minsk and visit the renovated Loshitsa park complex, BelTA has learned.

The head of state will be briefed on the restoration and reconstruction of the complex, as well as on improvements in the Belarusian capital. Aleksandr Lukashenko will tour the historical and cultural park complex Loshitsa, talk to builders and staff working in the complex, and meet with members of the public and young people of Minsk.

The Loshitsa complex is a unique site in the capital. It features a multifunctional building, a hotel with a ballroom, and a café. The interior design is inspired by national materials and spiritual values, reflecting the historical significance and legacy of the complex.

The complex features a central square designed for cultural, sporting, and market events. There is also a dedicated outdoor space set aside for ceremonial wedding registrations. The landscaped grounds include a pier that extends over the water, enhancing the appeal of the recreational area.

Originally, the site housed a group of buildings belonging to a distillery and spirits factory that formed part of the Loshitsa estate. The first recorded mention dates back to the mid-18th century. From the early 19th century, the distillery buildings underwent reconstruction and expansion, acquiring their current architectural appearance between 1890 and 1895 – a look that has been preserved to this day. Following the October Revolution, the function of the buildings changed. The site housed a school of fruit and vegetable cultivation and administrative and residential facilities. In 1946, wine production was resumed and continued until 1980. Until the start of the recent renovation, the buildings remained in a state of conservation. They are officially listed in the State Register of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Belarus.
