
MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) — Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will visit the Belarusfilm national film studio to explore filmmaking industry development prospects on 10 June, BelTA has learned.
The head of state will get familiar with the situation at the film studio, its structure and material base, the conditions created for filming television projects. Aleksandr Lukashenko is also expected to hold a meeting on the of the national filmmaking development prospects.
As BelTA reported earlier, in March 2025 Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the appointment of Dmitry Semenov as Belarusfilm Director General. In December 2024, appointing Ruslan Chernetsky as Culture Minister, he criticized the situation in the Belarusian film industry. “The most important art for us is cinema. But what is happening in our filmmaking is simply shameful and unacceptable. It has degraded. It has become a far cry of the Soviet cinematography when it got serious attention. I cannot say that we are not interested in it. But for some reason everyone only wants to earn money, but cannot make a good movie. Pay the most careful attention to this,” the head of state said then.
