MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) - While answering questions following his Address to the Belarusian people and Parliament on 18 December, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko reflected on a future without the U.S. dollar and paper money, BelTA has learned.
The head of state pointed out that many wealthy countries, which currently hold their gold and foreign exchange reserves in U.S. dollars, are gradually trying to find alternative ways to invest and preserve their finances. “Right now everyone is striving to get rid of money because inflation is terrible... There is a terrible devaluation. Why hold reserves in this currency? And they are trying to get rid of it somehow,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
In this regard, he mentioned Elon Musk and his supporters, who hold the view that money as such will not exist tomorrow, and people will make transactions in kilowatt-hours, settling payments with electricity. “That is, money will disappear. There will be something new and interesting. These are the kinds of discussions among financiers,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said, outlining various perspectives.
