Lukashenko praises new models of Minsk-made bikes, bicycles

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – MotoVeloZavod needs to expand its production, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he visited the Minsk City Technopark on 16 January, BelTA learned.

During his visit to the technopark, Aleksandr Lukashenko toured the exhibition of products of its resident companies. He paid special attention to the products of MotoVeloZavod. According to Director of the enterprise Sergei Manko, the Belarusian motorcycle and bicycle products are in great demand both in Belarus and abroad.
"They once said we do not need to produce bicycles or motorcycles. It turns out that we do. Bicycles and motorcycles are the future," the president emphasized.

The head of state asked about the enterprise’s import substitution efforts. It was noted that the manufacturing process involves other enterprises of the Industry Ministry and some private companies. Some produce seats, others - shock absorbers. The level of localization reaches 80% for certain models.
"This is very good that you have involved [other enterprises]," Aleksandr Lukashenko said. "Keep up this work."

While visiting the technopark, the president toured a number of production facilities operating there. They are very different but united by one important point: their import-substituting products are in demand in Belarus and have a good export potential.

For example, these enterprises manufacture complete lines for processing rapeseed, soybeans and sunflowers. "If you need help, please ask for it. It is important for us to see your development," the head of state said.

Other production facility deals with the vacuum plasma technologies. Another one is engaged in the design of light steel thin-wall structures.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also visited MotoVeloZavod, a motorcycle and bicycle plant that was founded on Partizansky Avenue decades ago. Thanks to the president's decisions, the production has received a new lease of life. A lot has been done in terms of expanding the range and localization of products.
The president also went to see a break room.

Mink Mayor Vladimir Kukharev informed the head of state that the Minsk City Technopark would soon open a canteen.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized the importance of making prices affordable. He pointed out that this applies not only to food prices, but also to the overall social environment of the technopark, including dormitories and rental housing.

"We should treat people well," the Belarusian leader added.
