Lukashenko orders police to address theft at enterprises

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko demanded that law enforcement agencies address theft and misappropriation at agricultural enterprises during a conference call on 18 July to discuss harvesting, BelTA has learned.
The head of state warned that he is well aware of the situation on the ground, even without police involvement: “They steal whatever they can. We must put a stop to this in the strictest possible manner.”
The president instructed the police to tackle this problem: “The police and other law enforcement agencies should strengthen control as much as possible.”

Addressing Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov, Aleksandr Lukashenko called for the most strict measures to be taken against those involved in theft and misconduct in the agricultural sector. “No one is punished over a single grain. But if someone is guilty, they should be held responsible even for that grain,” he said.
“We always provide information to the governors. Where no action is taken, we respond firmly,” the minister stated.

The president also emphasized the importance of maintaining strict labor and technological standards: “It’s better to harvest crops than to wage war,” he concluded.
