ASTANA, 29 May (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed during a phone conversation on 24 May that issues of European security should be resolved in Europe, Aleksandr Lukashenko told journalists following the EAEU summit in Astana, BelTA has learned.
The president said that security in Europe was among the topics discussed with his French counterpart.
“We came to a common understanding that all issues of European security and Europe itself must be resolved in Europe. It should not be Donald Trump who pushes us toward peace or anything else. We must resolve these issues ourselves because we live here. By the way, Donald Trump has repeatedly said that the war in Ukraine is a European issue. He is right about that. We must move in this direction and solve these matters instead of waiting for someone to take us to a table and force us to address these problems,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
