Lukashenko: Heating and power grid modernization must be systemic

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – Heating and power grid modernization must be done systemically, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received the government’s performance report for 2025, BelTA has learned.

The president touched upon issues such as roads, major housing repairs, and water quality. He emphasized that the government has all the necessary tools to effectively address these matters, including state programs and special powers.

“For example, the new decree on housing and utility services provides for an increase in funds for water utilities and wastewater treatment facilities. Therefore, the Clean Water project must be implemented as a priority basis throughout the country,” the Belarusian leader said.

At the same time, the head of state instructed to modernize heating and electrical networks on systemic basis. "So that a situation like the failure of the heating main pipeline in Minsk does not happen again, and we don’t have to deal with its consequences in freezing weather,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated. “The same goes for electricity supply: queues at charging stations, electric heating at home and in the country are a problem. They don’t give permits. This is some kind of infrastructural marvels amidst a surplus of generating capacity!”
