Lukashenko: Had Ukraine's leadership wanted, conflict in Donbass would have been over

OSIPOVICHI DISTRICT, 17 February (BelTA) – Had the Ukrainian authorities wanted, the conflict in Donbass would have been stopped, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told journalists after he visited the Osipovichi training ground during the Belarus-Russia joint exercise Allied Resolve 2022 on 17 February, BelTA has learned.

The head of state believes that the conflict in the southeastern part of Ukraine could have become a thing of the past a long time ago had the leadership of Ukraine wanted so.

“I was involved in it, so I'm telling you this not as a bystander, but as a person who knows it well. I mean what I am saying. Had they wanted, they would have done everything. What can we do? There is President Putin, there is President Zelenskyy. We will do whatever they want. There is only one goal – to bring back peace to Donbass, to put an end to deaths and fears. We are ready to do everything. There is no escaping this,” the Belarusian president said.
