KORMA, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko got a handwoven amulet sash from the Gomel Oblast farmers at the Dazhynki 2024 harvest festival in the town of Korma on 12 October.
“The residents of Gomel Oblast are sincerely grateful to you for your attention and care. Thanks to your decisions, our lands, which suffered from radiation contamination, are steadily developing today. Korma District can be cited as an example here. I would like to assure you that we will do utmost to develop it further,” Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko said.
In his words, Belarus boasts a rich national culture and its keepers in Gomel Oblast are the famous Neglubka weavers. They have woven a sash for the head of state. “It will protect you and help preserve our beloved Belarus,” the Gomel Oblast governor said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also took part in the Wheel of the Earth ceremony. A thanksgiving wheel made of sashes representing the districts of Gomel Oblast was taken on stage. The president tied the sash of Korma District to the wheel, thus closing the full circle.
“Thank you for that dedication, loyalty to your land. We live in a difficult time. You know that we did not abandon you back then, when there was nothing to eat and wear, and we will not abandon you now. We will always know that you need peace and protection. Remember: we will always live in a peaceful country,” the Belarusian leader said.
