MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – I expect Belarus-Kyrgyzstan trade to hit $500 million by 2030, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev in Minsk on 30 September, BelTA has learned.
“We are open to comprehensive cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. We have the greatest respect for you, your government, and your people. We are eager to reach that level of trade, which we are quietly discussing today – approximately $500 million. I do not even want to specify a date. It would be very good if we reach it by 2030. But we can and must do it,” the president said.
The president also outlined certain areas for cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. One such area is the mining industry, where Belarus has certain expertise.
The head of state noted that during the official visit that began on 28 September, the chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan had already held talks with the Belarusian prime minister, with certain agreements already reached.
“Be assured that we will deliver on every single promise we have made to our Kyrgyz friends,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
Adylbek Kasymaliev agreed that the parties have every opportunity to raise trade to the target of $500 million. He pointed out that a whole set of documents to foster cooperation across various sectors was signed the previous day, with the main one being a roadmap through 2030.
Kyrgyzstan’s prime minister also mentioned that before his flight to Belarus, he had met with Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov. “He asked me to convey his warmest regards and expressed his full support for my official visit to Belarus,” Adylbek Kasymaliev said.

“We are keen to resume work on our longstanding contracts and projects dating back to the Soviet times and to participate in your new projects. We are particularly interested in the mining industry, as we possess all the necessary capabilities for the extraction and transportation of ore to processing plants,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
