MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) — The negotiation process on resolving the conflict in Ukraine is fragmented, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he spoke at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
The head of state emphasized that being located in the heart of the continent, Belarus has always advocated initiatives aimed at ensuring global security and pursued a peace policy.
The president pointed out the issue and proposed to discuss it during the conference. "On the one hand, we see a marathon of peace initiatives. We support any efforts to de-escalate the situation," the Belarusian leader emphasized. "On the other hand, the negotiation process is fragmented as different countries are seeking to become regional centers of power. This makes it difficult to find acceptable compromises. The earlier we join our efforts, the sooner we find them."
