MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – The progress of the One District, One Project initiative is the benchmark for assessing the performance of regional and district leadership, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received the government’s performance report for 2025, BelTA has learned.
The president emphasized the importance of investment projects, especially in the regions: “If we do not preserve the material foundation of our economy through new industrial sites and production facilities, we will never stop the outflow of people.”
In this regard, the head of state drew special attention to the One District, One Project program calling it a litmus test for the work of every district executive committee chairman and governor.
“Alongside the restoration of core enterprises engaged in district agricultural service, agricultural chemistry, land reclamation and mobile mechanized units. All powers regarding construction, examination, finances, and personnel have been transferred to the local level. The head of the district executive committee is now the key link in the country's system of power. At the end of the first half of the year, we will conduct a serious analysis of these issues,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.
