MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on the deadlines set by U.S. President Donald Trump for Russia to end the military conflict in Ukraine as he answered journalists' questions during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Valaam Island, BelTA learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko referred to Donald Trump as “our mutual friend who we supported so much.” “We really wanted him to win,” he added.
Commenting on the U.S. president’s statements about deadlines, the Belarusian leader stated: “50, 60, 10 days? This is not how politics works. If he wants peace, he must engage carefully and thoroughly. This is a military confrontation. You can’t just issue orders here, especially not to a nuclear power. It’s simply ridiculous."
"You know, I recently met with the Americans. I said this openly to them (and they were Donald Trump’s close friends). Will you please, tell the president that these things must be handled cautiously? And then an agreement is possible,’" Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.

Aleksandr Lukashenko referenced the earlier proposals for an “air ceasefire’, a topic that was also discussed during his meeting with the U.S. representatives: “I said: Russia and President Putin are interested in this. But you do not want it. Tell Zelensky to agree, so these flying machines stop falling on people’s heads.”
