Lukashenko congratulates Peter Mutharika on assuming office of Malawi president

MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Peter Mutharika on a victory in the latest presidential election in Malawi, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

“I am confident that under your leadership the country will continue to develop steadily and expand its ties with international partners,” the head of state emphasized.

The president noted the significant potential for intensifying political dialogue and deepening mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Malawi. "Today's challenges require closer cooperation across all areas,” the Belarusian leader stated.

Aleksandr Lukashenko proposed to share Belarus' successful experience in implementing projects in African countries with Malawi and stressed the interest in strengthening the Belarus‑Malawi friendship for the benefit of both peoples.

The Belarusian president wished good health and success in the responsible government position to Peter Mutharika, and peace and prosperity to the people of Malawi.
