Lukashenko concerned by international situation

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – The current situation in the world is dangerous because of its unpredictability and potential to enter a hot phase, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received credentials from foreign ambassadors on 3 February, BelTA has learned.

“We remember well the horrors of that war [World War II] and today we are watching with concern the escalation of tension in the world. The thing is that those who are fomenting tension and bringing in new escalation factors, are trying to shift the blame and responsibility to others. The situation today reminds of the late 1930s - early 1940s. It is dangerous because it is unpredictable and it can explode any time,” Aleksandr Lukashenko believes.

According to him, the current state of affairs was the result of systemic destruction of the international security architecture and the growing militarization of the European region. “It is obvious to us who is behind this process,” the president said.
