KAZAN, 23 October (BelTA) – China is very dear to me; it is one of the closest allies of Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with the Chinese TV channel CGTN on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
“I talk a lot about China. This country is dear to me personally (my youngest son studies at Peking University), and also bears a lot of importance at the state level,” the head of state said.
The president recalled that more than 30 years ago he visited China as an MP. After the visit he called for the development of cooperation with the country. It was perceived without much enthusiasm back then. Today Aleksandr Lukashenko is proud that he saw the prospects of China then.
“I am glad that China is very dear to me both at the personal and state levels. I appreciate it very much. I appreciate the hardworking people of China. I always cite as an example the intensive development of China and the progress that has been taking place in front of my eyes. They are our friends, our allies. We count on them very much. We are ready to do everything for China. There is no issue that we cannot resolve for China,” the president said.
He emphasized that China and Russia are the closest allies of Belarus. “We are interesting for China. China is of huge interest for us. They invest a lot in here,” the head of state said.
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, Belarus has implemented a number of major projects with China. These are, for example, the construction of the BNBC, the launch of a satellite, the opening of missile and automobile production facilities.
“There is no sector of the economy where we do not rely on China today. It is a very close and very promising ally of ours. I would like our cooperation with China to develop further. We have good relations at the highest level. We are long-time friends with President Xi Jinping. We understand China and its policy. I think we will do well,” the Belarusian leader said.
