TIANJIN, 1 September (BelTA) - Belarus considers the creation of a unified scientific and innovation environment within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to be of crucial importance, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his speech at the SCO summit in Tianjin, China on 1 September, BelTA has learned.
The head of state emphasized that there are already mechanisms (from working groups to the SCO Interbank Consortium) that can provide funding for joint R&D initiatives and technological startups. He noted that this is especially relevant at a time when innovation is becoming a key driver of sustainable growth.
“Belarus is open to sharing experience and implementing joint projects in agriculture, medicine, IT, and applied sciences,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also stressed the importance of strengthening ties among the SCO member states in education, science, and culture. “The humanitarian dimension of the SCO should be filled with concrete projects and new opportunities,” he added.
