Lukashenko: Belarus should invest money in what it can do the best

MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – Belarus should increase spending in the areas where Belarusians excel, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with the workforce of Minsk Automobile Plant and other enterprises of the holding company on 21 January, BelTA has learned.

“Today we have one question: how to move forward? You have probably watched my tough meeting on the investment program. It was about the provisions of the state investment program. I wondered why we were complicating things, what we were inventing. We saw that you were doing well in bus production, so here's a factory. The project was completed within a year and a half. It will become operational one of these days. In other words, we can do everything. A certain discipline is needed to ensure quality. And we need to be frugal,” noted Aleksandr Lukashenko.

“As for the investment program, I believe there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Let's do what we already know how to do. If you have a strong footing, it is easier to achieve excellence. We should dive deeper, strive for perfection, and prime the pump,” the head of state is convinced.

The president noted that Belarus has good engineers and assembly factories. According to him, Belarusian specialists can produce any equipment, up to spacecraft and nuclear bombs. It's only a question of time and money as well as a question of necessity: does Belarus really need it? Our country does not launch rockets, and the ally Russia helps with weapons.

“We need to do something for people. In other words, we need to invest money in the things that we can already do well,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
