MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – Belarus needs a concrete action plan to address challenges in mechanical engineering. This includes expanding the production of electric transport and mastering the entire line of diesel engines, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his Address to the Belarusian people and Parliament, BelTA has learned.
“Machinery manufacturing holds a special place in our industry. Every year, thousands of units of equipment roll off our production lines. Yet we still do not have our own gasoline engine, nor have we mastered the full range of diesel motors. This means we need a concrete action plan to address these challenges,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
The Belarusian leader also emphasized the importance of following the global trend of developing electric transport. “We need to ramp up production of such vehicles at the new MAZ plant, double the capacity of Belkommunmash. It is time for BelGee to raise the bar and ensure the production of at least 10,000 domestic electric cars and hybrid vehicles per year,” he said.

The president also highlighted the need to expand the practice of launching assembly facilities abroad. “Agreements are being implemented on the localization of Belarusian tractors and trucks in Vietnam, and a joint production of BelAZ equipment has been established in Iran. But of course, we will not fully move our factories out of the country,” the head of state added.

At the same time, he noted that there are many such proposals for joint assembly, especially in Africa. “We need complete, up-to-date lists of industrial cooperation projects by country, as well as their immediate implementation in practice,” Aleksandr Lukashenko concluded.
