MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Kazakhstan see world development through the same lens, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov in Minsk on 5 February, BelTA has learned.
“As for the international agenda and our approaches and views, I believe we are absolutely aligned here. We see the development of our world in the same way. We support multipolarity. We want new countries, including those that emerged after the collapse of the [Soviet] Union, to be sovereign and independent. You know this very well, and so does your president,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader also acknowledged Kazakhstan’s significant role in Belarus’ accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a full member. “You’ve been a great help to us. I primarily addressed my Kazakhstani friends. They not only supported us but also encouraged other countries to do the same,” he said.
