MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) - If set up, a women's party would have no equal in Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting with activists of the Belarusian Women’s Union on 5 March, BelTA has learned.
“As I was preparing for this meeting, I was thinking about you as a party. No, I am not pushing you towards it. You know my attitude to party building: everything must be natural, everything must mature. There should be no pro-governmental and other parties. Parties should evolve themselves if we really want to have real parties in the future,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The president added: “It seems to me that if we had a women's party, it would have no equal. It would be totally unrivaled. I say this sincerely. And I also had a thought that in principle you do not need it, including the fact that people do not take parties well. You as a union have a tremendous influence. You take part in all political and other processes important for the country.”
