Gift baskets from Lukashenko presented to Belarusian biathletes

MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) - On behalf of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, gift baskets of salo, bread, and the presidential beverages have been delivered to the Belarusian biathletes at Raubichi, BelTA has learned.

“‘Doping' from the president to our champion biathletes,” the Telegram channel Pul pervogo said. 

“Today we have the most honorable mission. We came today to meet, talk with you, and convey words of gratitude and once again congratulations from the president. He sends you his warm regards and, of course, wishes for your continued success. No matter what, against all odds. And someday... I am sure the president believes that someday we will live to see the moment when it will be 'thanks to’,” Belarusian president's press secretary Natalya Eismont said addressing the athletes.

Presenting the treats from the head of state, she said: “The president believes that if there is a place for doping in the world of sports, it should only be like this.”

“We extend a big thank you, including on behalf of all Belarusian fans. I think you know better than anyone how much Belarusians love biathlon. Wishing you great success! We will cheer and root for you as always,” Natalya Eismont added. 

The president’s gift bask includes salo, bread, honey, sweets, and a selection of Belarusian products.
In addition to Natalya Eismont, the event was attended by Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk and Presidential Aide Nikolai Latyshenok.

Biathlete Anton Smolski, on behalf of the team members, thanked the head of state for the close attention he pays to this sport and for his support. “He supports us, cheers for us, offers us words of wisdom which, as I have said before, help us hold our heads high and motivate us to achieve victories. Therefore, immense gratitude to him for watching over us and cheering for us,” the athlete said.

As BelTA has reported, at the recent Commonwealth Biathlon Cup in Raubichi, Belarusian athletes won a number of medals, including gold ones. On the final day of the event, Anton Smolski, Stsiapan Danilau, Hanna Sola, and Dzinara Smolskaya. won the mixed relay event, and they received congratulations from the head of state.

Prior to that, Anton Smolski won gold in the pursuit and also took bronze in the sprint. Hanna Sola earned a silver medal in the pursuit.
