Denis Yurchenko appointed Director General of Belarusian Glass Company

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the appointment of Denis Yurchenko as Director General of the managing company of the Belarusian Glass Company holding group on 27 March, BelTA has learned.

Denis Yurchenko was in charge of Grodno Glassworks. He explained that the Belarusian Glass Company holding group currently unites all state-owned glass enterprises in the country. However, there are still two private factories in Belarus that are not part of the holding group.

"So, you are competing with these private enterprises?" Aleksandr Lukashenko asked.

"No, we are not. We even cooperate in some areas. We have no disagreements, but they remain separate for now," Denis Yurchenko said. "The results of the Belarusian Glass Company's work show that your decision to unite Belarusian glass enterprises into one group to address key issues and further develop the glass industry in Belarus was justified."

"Do you think they [private enterprises] will join you?" the president asked.

"I believe they won't refuse if we offer them," the company head stressed. "We have no issues with sales. Together, we satisfy the domestic demand."

The head of state emphasized that no one should be forced to join the holding group, but private and state-owned companies should work together. "Resources, raw materials, and so on come from the same source, I could say. So we need to cooperate rather than compete. And this will not harm the state," Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.

The president also inquired about the current state of Belarusian glass product exports.

"The European market has been closed to us since October, but we managed to refocus on the Russian market. It is the closest to us, and we continue to build up our presence there. So far, things are going well," Denis Yurchenko said.
