Belarusian farmers invited to use pellets in greenhouse heating

MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) – Farmers need to switch to pellets to heat greenhouses, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik to receive his report on 28 May, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned an article he had recently read about greenhouse cucumber growing in the south of Belarus: “How do they [farmers], especially in Polesie, heat greenhouses at night? Do they have to use firewood every 40 minutes there?”
“I thought about pellets then. They need to be loaded [to the boiler] once a week. All you need to do is to install a boiler, load it one a week or once in 10 days, and come check the temperature once in a while,” the head of state said.

The temperature can even be regulated from a smartphone, Piotr Parkhomchik added.

“Any farmer will always come and check the process We should try it. Let us install a small boiler for a greenhouse. Or maybe for two. One boiler can be enough to heat two, three, or even a large greenhouse. We should try it and invite our farmers from Pinsk District and others follow suit. We may also help them with loans, if necessary,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
