MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Many countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) demonstrate national egoism while dealing with matters of economic nature. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement in an interview with the Kazakh national television news agency Khabar, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that Eurasian Economic Union member states constantly have to meet various challenges, which have always existed, still exist, and will exist. In his opinion, it is necessary to learn how to benefit from these challenges. “For instance, China is having problems with the United States of America now. Some shortage is emerging in China, including food shortage. Why can't we substitute what the USA used to supply to China? Yes, it is a great challenge for the entire world economy but we can exploit this challenge,” Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced.
“It is very important for us to work together instead of individual countries trying to do something at a time when challenges are rampant. I cannot say we work together in dealing with economic affairs. We stand united in security matters, in defense matters, in matters of diplomacy and foreign policy. We've advanced farther in those areas. There is too much national egoism in matters of economy. It needs to change,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
